Being a Washington, DC based Wedding Photographer, I’ve now lost count of engagement sessions I’ve shot in Old Town, Alexandria! However, I can honestly say that Julia and Matt got the rainiest weather I’ve ever shot in. Just like Aaron and Andrew’s rainy day wedding at Meridian Hill, Julia and Matt learned to embrace the rain and their session turned out so sweet! Here’s the thing though. Rain won’t ruin your engagement session and I’m here to tell you why!
So many couples would see rain in the forecast on their session date and immediately move to reschedule. With Julia and Matt, we had already rescheduled once already due to weather so we were all committed to doing our best with what mother nature provided. Little did we know that mother nature would open the skies! Here’s why you should think about embracing a rainy engagement session if your day calls for it…
I literally show up to every session with a full rain kit no matter what the weather calls for. This includes bubble umbrellas, ponchos for me and my gear, and a fantastic attitude. And I absolutely LOVE getting to use these adorable umbrellas!
Just look at these faces. Do you see frowns here? I can promise you that with the right attitude, you can have an absolute BLAST in the rain! I’ll approach it with the same movement based silly fun as I do all of my sessions and it will feel like such a fun romp in the puddles!
Just imagine how much more confident you’ll feel if it ends up raining on your wedding day. We’ll have already worked together and proved that shooting in the rain can be fun. All the pressure and disappointment you might feel seeing rain on your wedding day will be nonexistent because you’ll KNOW you’ll have magical photos to look forward to!
Enjoy some of my favorite photos from Julia and Matt’s engagement session! They were so lovely, and their pup (Tater!) was the best little model ever! I hope this helped you realize that rain won’t ruin your engagement session if that’s what the weather calls for on the day!
